Kath and I got back from Chicago yesterday and found two trails of yellow on our carpet. We quickly deduced that it was cat vomit, but it was unrelated to hairballs. So, we were left wondering which of our 3 girls did the deed. My first thought was that it was Dory. She's had a few episodes lately, but those episodes occurred after she munched on our palm fronds from Palm Sunday which left the house in the trash a while ago. Our next thought was Puck. She has a very sensitive tummy, and we recently bought new food for Dory. Undoubtedly, in our absence, Puck took advantage of Dory's food bowl and the new yummy food. However, there were no undigested food pieces, suggesting that Puck was not the culprit. But, since Puck is the most sensitive, we still thought she was the culprit, especially after she ate her food last night and then flopped down like a little beached whale on the floor. Clearly, eating was exhausting.
Then, just before bed, Kath came into the living room holding a leftover wrapped stick of butter. There were little lick marks in it, and what was once a third of a stick was reduced down to one-fourth of a stick of butter. The mystery was solved. Ty, our little butter lover, found some butter on the counter that I forgot to put away and went to town. She ate practically a tablespoon of butter. No wonder her tummy was upset! We were relieved that Ty didn't eat all the butter. We figured she thought we were going to be gone for a while and was rationing her treat. She is a girl after my own heart, though. I do love butter.
These are the joys of having kitties. In our next pet installment, I'll tell you how we retrained Puck to use the litterbox. Now that's a good story.

Straight butter doesn't sound too appealing. But that reminds me...do you have the recipe for striped delight? I think that would taste good with a brownie 'crust'...
no, i don't... but that does sound yummy
